Governing Pandora: Managing the Risks and Rewards of AI and Exponential Technologies
As generative AI, quantum computing, and other frontier technologies accelerate, they are creating a new category of volatile, interconnected risks that organizational leaders can no longer treat as peripheral. This panel considers what that means in practice, bridging risk theory with the day-to-day realities of corporate oversight.
Dr. Andrea Bonime-Blanc, author of Governing Pandora: Leading in the Age of Generative AI and Exponential Technology, CEO and founder of GEC Risk Advisory and Board Director, will be joined by Melody Feinberg, part-time lecturer in Columbia's ERM program and Board Member at AgFirst Farm Credit Bank, Axiom Bank, and Security Mutual Life Insurance Company of New York. Together they will examine how boards and executives are adapting governance models to keep pace with technological change, including how directors evaluate management's AI integration plans, what distinguishes sound oversight from theater, and how organizations can move from a defensive posture toward one that treats these technologies as a source of genuine value.
Drawing on real-world cases, the conversation will offer attendees a practitioner's view of board-level oversight, along with practical guidance on how to harness the opportunities of exponential technology responsibly, without losing sight of accountability and governance.
